At the heart of Erskine Stewart Melville lies our state-of-the-art Sports Club, a hub of activity, fitness, and well-being for students and the wider community. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just beginning your fitness journey, our Sports Club offers top-notch facilities and a welcoming environment for all.
Excellent Facilities
Our Sports Club boasts a wide range of modern amenities designed to cater to various sports and fitness needs. From our fully-equipped gym and fitness studios to our indoor swimming pool, sports halls, and outdoor pitches, we provide everything you need to stay active and healthy.
- Fitness Suite: Our gym is equipped with the latest cardio and strength-training equipment, suitable for all fitness levels.
- Swimming Pool: Dive into our heated indoor pool, perfect for swimming lessons, training, and leisure. Our pool is open to non-members with drop-in swims available for £6, or £3 for under 16s.
- Sports Halls: Versatile indoor spaces for basketball, badminton, gymnastics, and more.
- Outdoor Pitches: Enjoy our expansive outdoor facilities for rugby, football, hockey, and athletics.
Community and Membership
Our Sports Clubs aren’t just for students, it’s a vibrant community resource open to families, alumni, and local residents. We offer flexible membership options that provide access to our facilities, ensuring everyone can enjoy the benefits of staying active.
Our Sports Club is located at Erskine Stewart Melville Senior School on Queensferry Road. As well as offering membership with access to a well equipped fitness suite at ESM Sports Centre and a 25m swimming pool, a number of the facilities are also available to hire including the Games Halls, Astro Pitches and Tennis Courts for a variety of activities such as football, cricket, tennis, badminton, hockey, basketball, table tennis, martial arts, fitness classes and birthday parties. We are pleased to offer a new Personal Training service, as well as a variety of term-time coached classes and holiday camps.

Opening Hours
Term time public opening hours at our Queensferry Road Sports Club:
- Monday to Friday, 6pm – 10pm
- Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 8pm
Term time public opening hours at our Ravelston Sports Club:
- Monday to Friday, 6pm – 10pm
- Saturday, 9am – 6pm
- Sunday, 10am – 4pm

30-Minute HIIT Session
Join ESM Personal Trainer Mark for a 30-minute HIIT session designed to build full-body strength, boost fitness and burn calories.
HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) combines short bursts of high-intensity exercise with short recovery periods, making it a quick and effective workout for improving your overall fitness.
Suitable for all abilities, and open to both members and non-members.
