Careers & Higher Education

With a rapidly changing workforce, there is no one better to guide our students on their chosen path than our dedicated Careers and Higher Education team. With up-to-date career insights and a personalised approach, they work closely with students to help them make decisions that will shape their success, now and in the future.

Future Ready

Many of the jobs our current students will go into do not even exist yet, and it’s our job to make sure our young adults are adaptable and ready to navigate the unknown.

At Erskine Stewart Melville we don’t ask children what they want to be when they grow up – we ask them about what they love doing, what they think their core strengths are and what types of environments help them to thrive.

Our Careers Programme starts in Junior School where we expose students to jobs they may never have heard of, challenging stereotypes at a subtle level. As they move into the Senior School they have access to inspirational speakers, networking sessions and bespoke Higher Education events.  The dial is turned up a notch in S4 with psychometric profiling that guides students towards a career path that is right for them.

Throughout their time at school students are supported by a strong and diverse community network of former pupils and parents who are excelling in their own careers and offer inspiration and advice.

I felt so lucky when going through the application process at MES as I was supported by members from all parts of the school community in so many ways. It truly feels like a second family as everyone genuinely wants to help you succeed

Higher Education Support and Advice

Our aim is to make sure every student finds a path that they are passionate about.  We work closely with students to help them discover their strengths, identify areas for growth and develop an awareness of their interests and the vast array of opportunities available to them.

Whatever path they chose, we are able to assist with application preparation. Our team have a wealth of expertise in the university application process in the UK and abroad, and we have excellent connections with wider Higher Education bodies, including universities, colleges and apprenticeship providers. We also connect students with former students who have taken similar paths, and set up mock interviews with experts in the relevant field.

By the time they leave school, they have a clear understanding of the working world, where they fit, and how to adapt to change with confidence and positivity.
