ESM Choirs Dazzle at the 75th Edinburgh Tattoo

We’re incredibly proud of our Junior and Middle School Choirs, who returned to the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle to perform at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Alongside 900 performers from around the world, they helped mark the 75th anniversary of this iconic show – an opportunity of a lifetime.

This year, 36 Junior and Middle School children gave up their summer evenings to take part in seven performances a week throughout August. They performed two songs: one by the Scottish band Skipinnish, and another by award-winning singer-songwriter Karine Polwart.

The 2025 Tattoo celebrated 75 years of the event with The Heroes Who Made Us—a spectacular production led by the British Army and filled with pageantry, history and cultural heritage. For our students, it was an extraordinary experience to be part of such a landmark occasion.

Sharing the stage with world-class performers from the UK, Switzerland, Canada, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and the United States (to name just a few) made this an unforgettable experience.

A huge well done to all the children, the music department for their expert preparation, and the families who supported them through their intense performance schedule!

Seeing our children perform in an esteemed event like this is yet another testament to our award-winning Performing Arts programme, which earned us the 2023 title of Independent School of the Year in the Music, Drama and Performing Arts category.

To see how our pupils develop the confidence to perform on international stages, join us at our Open Day on Saturday 20 September.
